Between 2001 and 2006, significant population growth occurred along the eastern seaboard states of Australia. A substantial proportion of this growth occurred outside capital cities, particularly on the urban fringes of large cities, coastal areas and the areas around mining towns.
This study focuses on the movement of young families to non-metropolitan areas of Queensland and New South Wales, with the aim of building an understanding of the experiences and needs of these families.

That's the title of a public forum being hosted jointly by the Homeless Persons' Legal Service and Homelessness NSW on Monday 2nd August. The forum will be opened by Linda Burney MP and will feature talks from Public Interest Advocacy CEO Robin Banks and consumer advocate Janet Meagher on the intersection between homelessness and human rights.
The forum will also feature the unveiling of a series of audit tools to enable groups working with people who are homeless to examine their consumer participation strategies. RSVP

Australian Social Inclusion Board Holds Consultations

The Australian Social Inclusion Board (the Board) is currently conducting research on cycles of disadvantage. As part of this research, the Board will be holding public consultations in each capital city and is inviting services, including homelessness services, to share their expertise and knowledge and experiences on cycles of disadvantage, and how people avoid or break out of disadvantage.
